Barley Breakfast Cereal


1 cup low-fat milk  
½ cup quick-cooking barley 
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons chopped almonds or walnuts 
2 tablespoons raisins

In a small pot, bring milk to a boil. Stir in remaining ingredients, and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Remove from heat, cover, and allow to sit for 5 minutes. Stir and serve.
Makes 2 servings.
